Worthy of a Celebration
Worthy of a Celebration
Here it is Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year and you are struggling to feel Merry. You are not alone; many others understand how you feel. You may be walking through the hardest time of your life or simply overwhelmed and stressed. Can you imagine how Mary felt when the angel told her she would bear a child, yet she knew she had never been with a man? It must have been overwhelming to learn that God had chosen her to bear His Son. We want to believe she was filled with wonder and remained that way, but she had to walk among the people who judged her swelling belly. She must have felt isolated as she stayed with Elizabeth and walked a road no one else had ever traveled. Who could relate to what she was going through? She must have been so tired and weary as she traveled for 3 days to Bethlehem. Now she was in labor and there was no room at the Inn. This glorious event was happening in a stable.
She must have felt alone. She must have been scared. She must have wanted to quit and declare, “Never mind Lord, choose someone else.” I imagine on many occasions she cried out to God and asked Him to come and be with her, to help her, and to give her His strength to go through this time. You may be thinking, “Well, I am sure it was hard – but in the end, she had Jesus, the Savior of the world. That is worthy of a celebration.”
Well, no matter how great our pain, how lonely we feel, or what we are going through we have Jesus, the Savior of the world and He is worthy of a celebration. The Bible says in Psalm 34:18 that God is near to the brokenhearted. He is with us. But, we must look away from our pain and look to Him. We are never alone. He loves us so much He sent His Only Son, Jesus, to be the sacrificial lamb so that we could spend forever with Him. In that, we can find great joy!
Because of Jesus’ birth we have the hope of salvation and eternity in heaven. We can experience peace and joy because He is with us. We can have a deep and intimate relationship with our Savior. We have Jesus, the Savior of the world, and He is worthy of a celebration!
