Adore Him

Adore Him

I love music. It plays throughout my home almost all day every day, well that is until Tom or one of my granddaughters walks in the door. I have playlists for everything – when I am writing, to dance with my granddaughters, when I am working or (ahem) working out, to go to sleep, well… you get the idea. Now days, apps like to create playlists for you. Recently, I was listening to the music that had been selected for me and in the middle of the month of May “Oh Come Let Us Adore Him” began to play. I moved toward my device to skip the song, but then suddenly I realized what I needed to do on this day and every day is to adore Him.

Life is hard, filled with disappointments and challenges and even great heartbreaks. But let’s not forget that God loves us so much, He sent us a Savior. He provided a sacrificial lamb so that even though we are broken, damaged, rebellious, confused, or lost in our disobedience, we can have hope. We can have a relationship with Him. We can have security. We can experience His love, His presence and rest in His promises. Because of all He has done, how can we not stop what we are doing and just simply adore Him?

Jesus left Heaven. He left His throne and came to earth as a man. He lived His short life here and left behind an example for us to follow. He loved. He served. He offered grace upon grace upon grace. Even when He was being beaten and tortured by the very people He came to die for, His love for them and the grace He offered them remained. His love for us and the grace He offers us remains – even when we lose our way or just get too busy to give Him a second thought. For that – today let’s choose to adore Him.

“When they saw the star, they were overwhelmed with joy. Entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and falling to their knees, they worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts: gold frankincense, and myrrh.” Matthew 2:10-11

Today, may we be overwhelmed with joy because of what Jesus has done for us. May we give Him back the gifts He has given to us. May we become people who simply want to love Him more, serve Him more and grow to know Him more and more. May we choose today to come before Him and simply adore Him. Oh come, let us adore Him
