It’s all About…
What is it that overwhelms my soul, fills my mind, captures my heart and determines my actions? What is it that I am after? What do I want? What is my life all about? What matters most to me, truly matters most? Do I dare to get real and answer this honestly? What if we acknowledge that most days it’s all about… ME?
“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?” 2 Corinthians 13:5
ME. It is just a M and an E, but those two little letters make up a big problem. ME has a very long “To Do” List, a bunch of insecurities and can be quite sensitive. ME cares what others think, wants the approval of all and needs to make others happy. ME fills the day doing what others expect, reacts according to ME’s feelings, and crams so much in that ME collapses – forgetting and forsaking what it is really all about.
You see, it’s not supposed to be all about ME, but ME is such a great distraction. All Satan has to do to distract us from doing what God would have us to do and becoming who God is calling us to be is to whisper, “What about ME?” Well, what about ME? It’s not all about ME. It’s not about who we are and what we have done. It’s all about who Jesus is and what Jesus has done.
So, how do we proceed? What are we to do? We are to wake up and comprehend what it’s really all about. Our purpose, our life, our calling is all about Jesus. It’s all about… Jesus. We are to humble ourselves before Him and surrender our all to Him. We are to surrender ME to Him.
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Galatians 2:5-11
What is it that overwhelms my soul, fills my mind, captures my heart and determines my actions? What is it that I am after? What do I want? What is my life all about? What matters most to me, truly matters most? Today and every day, let my answer be Jesus. It’s all about… Jesus!
