It's Time to Make Time
It’s Time to Make Time
I am busy…so busy…too busy! It is a busy time of year. I have so much on my plate. You have no idea all that I have going on right now. We make lists on paper and on our phones. We write them on our calendars and hang them on the fridge. Regardless of how loaded our plate - or platter - may be, we seem to focus on the load and our own ability to carry it. It consumes our mind. We think about it all day long, even when we are trying to have family time, even as we drift off to sleep.
Satan doesn’t need to make us bad, he just makes us busy – too busy.
We are all busy, but what matters most? Believers will all answer the appropriate answer – God or our relationship with Jesus. We claim to put Him first and foremost in our lives, but do we? We may fool others; we may even fool ourselves, but we are not fooling God. Are we spending time with Him or is time in the Word just another item on our To Do List? It’s time to make time for the written Word and for the Living Word.
We have been given such a great gift – God’s Word. We have the freedom to read it, talk about it and share it. We will be devastated if we ever lose that privilege, yet, we take it for granted. We plan to get around to it, just not today.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)
We have received the greatest gift and that is God’s only Son, Jesus. We say we know who He is and what He had done, but does our life reflect it? Do others see Him alive in us or do they just see us? If we believe He died for us, shouldn’t we be living for Him?
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, (Colossians 2:6-9)
So today, let’s commit to get into the written Word and spend time with the Living Word. When we do, the Word will get into us, lighten our load and make our paths straight.
