Experiencing More of God's Presence

Experiencing More of God’s Presence

If you have been following along, then you know I am hung up on the word – EVERYTHING. God has been showing me - or should I say reminding me – that He is everything! He is our Father, our best friend and our counselor. He is everything we have ever wanted and everything we need. (You can read more here.) What are we searching for? We already have everything. And because we are His – He is ours! Can I get a hallelujah? But there is more… not only is He everything, but do you know what He has for each of His children? Everything! He Has everything for us. His presence is ours; His provision is ours; and every single one of His promises are ours. (Read last week’s post here.) So today, let’s talk about experiencing more of God’s presence. Is that something you would like to do? Would you like to be more sensitive to His presence and have a deeper sense of intimacy with Him? You can.

Good news! There is no travel required, no excavation or excursion is needed. We don’t even have to look out our front door, because we have already been given full and total access to God. When our sacrificial lamb shed His blood and took His last breath our sins were atoned and we were given full access to the Holy of Holies. He is there with you now. Do you believe that? If not, believing is the starting point for you to experience His presence. Google “bible verses about presence of God” and start studying those. Scripture tells us that God is relational and desires intimacy with us. He wants us to experience His presence every single day. So, we have to pause and ask ourselves, do we live as if we believe that He is with us? Does the way we live even allow us to experience His presence?

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. Psalm 139:7-8

Satan is using our busyness to distract us from the presence of God. When our lives are so crazy busy and every second is filled, we cannot hear or sense God’s presence. Remember the scripture – Be still and know that I am God. Creating margin in our lives quiets the static and opens the door for us to enter into His throne room. For me, first thing in the morning – before the world enters in – is when I can experience Him the best. Can you carve out a little time for Him? Also, as you pray throughout the day, remember to not do all the talking – allow 5 or 10 minutes of quiet to just listen. And lastly, factor in margin – down time – blank space on your calendar. Be still and experience His presence.

And He said, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’ Exodus 33:14

Surround yourself with people who point you to Jesus. Be intentional and find those friends who love the Lord with all their heart, soul and mind. Be leery of those who share their opinion and value it above the truth of God’s word. Pride and arrogance thwart our encounter with God. We are to humble ourselves before the Lord. He is God, we are not.

All we need to do is believe God’s word and accept it as the truth. We need to slow down and create space for God in our everyday life. Our To Do list is not what matters. It is our relationship with the One True God that matters most. God made us to be relational. We are to have an intimate relationship with Him and we are to have relationships that glorify Him. Linking arms with other believers help us to grow to know God more. As we grow to know Him more, we will grow to love Him more and more. “It is our love for Him that will lead us to walk in obedience to Him, and it is our obedience to Him that allows us to fellowship with Him.” (from my book, Saved by Grace, Now What?)

If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. John 14:23

Experience more of God’s presence, there is nothing better. Believe, be still, fellowship and walk in obedience to Him and you will experience Him more! He loves you so. Go find a quiet space and tell Him you want to experience more of Him. Give Him more of you. Raise your hands in surrender or hold them out in expectation. There you will find peace, joy, contentment, love, acceptance… - everything.

You will show me the path of life ; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.Psalm 16:11
