Do You Know the Answer

Do you KNOW the Answer?

Does anyone else feel like they are living in a futuristic movie? There is a world-wide virus spreading around the globe, riots and looting are an everyday occurrence, and people seem to have no problem spewing hate and judgement from their lips. Why do we keep looking for the answers in all the wrong places? Why is our dialog focused on what is going wrong in the world around us? Why are we busy judging and blaming others, criticizing their actions?

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
— 2 Timothy 3:1-5

As we read the scripture above, we should not be surprised by all that is happening around us. Here we are reading what feels like an exact description of the world we are living in right now – but it was written many, many years ago in a very different time. As we read these words and feel the connection to what we are experiencing now, it is clear – these are perilous times.

Do you KNOW the answer?

The most troubling sentence above is the one that says, “having a form of godliness but denying its power”. That would be like choosing an outward appearance of reverence for God, proclaiming our love for God, and going through the actions of attending church services and practicing religion. Denying it’s power reveals there is a lack of connection to a living relationship with Jesus Christ.

Do you know THE answer?

The Bible in its entirety is all about our need for a Savior. We are evil and vile and unable to ever be good enough to enter into God’s presence. But God in His great love for us sent His Son to be the Sacrificial Lamb to be the atonement for our sins. He bore our shame and paid the price for our sins. When we invite Jesus into our hearts, we experience salvation. God no longer sees our sin, but the righteousness of Christ.

Oh, many want to go to Heaven, to experience Gods love and goodness, and to believe that they are good. But in Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus tells us, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Will you be one of the many or one of the few?

Jesus IS the Answer! Do you know Him?

As Christians, our role during these perilous days is for us to abide in Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Our life is not about us. Our opinions are not what matters. We are not here to judge and condemn. We are called to love like He loves, to offer grace because we have received His grace and to be the peacemakers. We are called to share Him with others. Let’s talk about Him to our spouses and children. Let’s share His truths on social media. Let’s engage in God honoring conversations. All of these things we can only do when we abide and engage in a relationship with Him.

It is not enough to be Christlike. We are called to become more and more like Christ.

If these perilous times are an indication that our days are short, then it is time for us to be busy studying His word, being diligent in sharing Him others and doing what He has created us to do.

Do you know the answer? His name is Jesus!
