The Good Life is Founded on the Good News

If I asked you, “Are you living the good life?”, what would you say? In my last blog post we talked about what the good life is all about. The dictionary struggles to define it, the world continues to try to create it, and as believers, we are fighting to remember what it is really all about. Can we go back and look at the definition I shared in that post?

The good life is the life founded on the Good News, deeply rooted in a relationship with the Good Father, trusting all things work together for our good, using wisdom and discernment to know what is good, and choosing to do the good God is calling her to do.

Scripture tells us,

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…” (James 1:17 ) says,

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” (Psalm 34:8)

“The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” (Psalm 145:9)

“So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.” (Mark 10:18)

The One who is good is the One who made a way for us to live the good life. He made a way for us to be reconciled to Him by sending His Son to be the propitiation for our Sin. Because our sin separates us from God, He offers us the gift of salvation through the death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. All we must do is choose to accept this amazing gift.

And can I tell you something, this is THE GIFT that keeps on giving. He gives us eternal life, hope, love, His presence, peace, rest, assurance, comfort, joy, and on and on. Nothing matters more that our relationship with Him. (Stay tuned – we will dive into that in our next blog post.)

The Good Life is founded on the Good News. It is the foundation of all that is good and apart from it, we cannot truly know what good is. Let’s don’t be fooled. As we approach the Christmas holiday, let’s pause and recalibrate our life.

God gave us the greatest gift ever given. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Let this be the time that we truly receive our King – not just for salvation, but for complete transformation as we engage Jesus and experience the more He came to offer. Let’s embrace surrender as we lay down more and more of me and receive more and more of Him. This is the good life – no matter our circumstances, our location or even our relationships. Jesus is everything we have ever wanted and everything we need.

The good life is the life surrendered to Jesus.

Who says, “Amen!”?

I am praying for you!
