What Do You Know to be True

What Do You Know to Be True?

So, I have this notebook. It has a cute flexible cover and I write in it with colored ink. I choose a different color every time I write making sure to mix the colors up. The colors don’t matter, but what does matter, are the words I write in this notebook. Its pages are filled with scripture or revelations or instructions that I have received over the past few years. It is more valuable to me than any asset I have acquired.

This notebook is filled with things I know to be true -things I believe; words that push me forward and remind me Who is calling me; words that point me to where I find refuge; words that fill me with gladness and cause me to raise my hands in praise. You see, whenever I am reading or studying God’s word and I sense God is speaking directly to me, directly into my circumstance – I jot the words down in my notebook.

Do you have a notebook? You need a notebook. Why? Well because life is hard and even though we know what we know there are days when we just are not sure. There are those moments when like the father in Mark who brought his son to be healed by Jesus, we doubt or feel a sense of hopelessness. Like him, we can cry out for help, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” My notebook of truth – a short list of things God has shown me to be true – is invaluable during hard seasons. Let me share just a few out of the many, many I have written down. Maybe one of these truths will become a great reminder for you and your first entry into your notebook.

“Watch! Stand fast in the faith! Be brave!!! Be strong!!! Let ALL that you do be done in love.” I Corinthians 16:13 (Punctuation by Pam.)

Romans 12:4-8 Pam’s note: Use the gifts God has given to you!

“Never change God’s facts into hopes or prayers – but simply accept them as realities, and you will find them to be powerful as you believe them.” H.W. Webb Peploe

Pam’s note: I am who He says I am! That will never change. I am not my mistakes, my failures, my fears. I am His beloved! He knew me before I was born. He knitted me together. He fashioned all my days. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am His – He is mine! Nothing can separate us.

I Corinthians 15:58 (NLT) “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”

Pam’s note: God – I don’t want to run ahead of you and I don’t want to lag behind. I want to run the race with You.

Psalm 62:8 Trust in Him at all times, Pam. Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for you, Pam. (paraphrased – add your name to scripture)

Pam’s note: Spend time with Jesus – ample time. When I do I can accomplish more in less time. He will help me determine what is important and what is not. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.” Psalm 32:8

Ephesians 3:14-21 Pam’s paraphrase: I bow to you, God – submitting my life – that I might be strengthened by You in me. Help me be rooted and grounded in your love – understanding the magnitude of it – so that I may experience all of You and your goodness. You can do MORE than I can imagine! I put my faith in You!! To YOU be the glory!!!

Isaiah 58:11 “The Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”

Pam’s note: The BEST place to be in is God’s will!

Don’t be afraid; just believe.” (Mark 5:36) But if you ever are afraid, simply look up and say, “When I am afraid, I will trust in you.” (Psalm 56:3)

“There is no condemnation in Christ, so if someone else has spoken condemning words over you, then they are not true – no matter how real they may feel.” Holley Gerth

Do not grieve Him by doubting His love. (Streams in the Desert Devotional)

“The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.” George Mueller

Pam’s note: Put God first – have the highest value for Him and what He says. Do not make adjustments for what God has said. We are to obey completely. His way should become our way.

“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Genesis 18:14

“Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy for I am holy.’” I Peter 1:13-16

Pam’s note: Walk in obedience to One.

I could go on and on and on – but you get the point. When God shows you something or speaks into your situation, write it down. There will come a time when you need to re-visit that truth. What do you know to be true? Do you live your life as if you believe in that truth? Lord, help us!
