You are Loved Lavishly

Do you know that YOU are loved lavishly? Can we be honest and admit that sometimes we just don’t get it? It is hard to comprehend that we are truly loved with an everlasting love. If we got it, then we would not be searching so desperately for love from others. Right?

…we long to be loved by a man

…we long to be loved and accepted by our family members

…we long to be popular, loved and approved by friends and people around us

…we long to be loved by our employer and co-workers, acknowledged and awarded

But… if we really understood the depth of God’s love, would we have these longings?

Here we are rushing around like crazy getting ready to celebrate the birth of our Savior. We are so busy shopping, planning, and preparing that we are not focusing on what all of this truly means. Statistics show that Christmas Day is the day of the year that has the highest number of people commit suicide. That is shocking, isn’t it? We know that people are lonely and devastated by broken relationships. We even experience disappointments and frustrations with difficult relatives and our own personal circumstances. Why? Why are we lonely and longing when God has proven His great love for us?

But… God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.

It’s Christmas time and we are celebrating the birth of Jesus – proof that we are loved. This time should not be about all that we make it about. This year, can we slow down enough to truly comprehend that we are loved lavishly? (1 John 3:1)

…so lavishly that God made a way to bring us back to Him (Philippians 2:5-11)

…so lavishly that He sent His own Son to be the spotless sacrificial lamb to atone us of our sin (John 3:16)

…so lavishly that He took on human form so that we might have a relationship with Him (John 14:6)

…so lavishly that He would endure the cross (Romans 5:6-8)

…so lavishly that He would prepare a place for us (John 14:3)

…so lavishly that He continues to pursue us even though we are so distracted (Psalm 139)

Love came down on Christmas Day – perfect, unconditional, complete and everlasting love.

You my friend are loved. This Christmas can you live loved? Can you stop seeking and searching and instead just abide in His love? Can you come to the realization that if no one else in the whole wide world loves you, His love is enough? (I want to comfort you and tell you that I love you, too, as if you need my love. You don’t. He is all we need.)

You are loved lavishly! Rejoice and lavish your love on Him. Thank Him! Praise Him! Worship Him!

Have the Merriest of Christmases as you lavish in His love!
