Having Everything Means Having Jesus
Having Everything Means Having Jesus
There have been times in my life when it felt as if I had lost everything. There have been seasons in my life that required me to give everything I had. There have been some long dark nights where I have pleaded for God to do everything because I could do nothing.
When you look at this beautiful pic of this precious family of mine – it appears that I have everything. What you don’t see are the hard times that caused us to embrace one another; the struggles that shattered us and forced us to allow God to put us back together; the tears that taught us about prayer and God’s faithfulness and goodness.
We are not perfect, we are flawed. We don’t have it all together, we are broken. The beauty in this picture has nothing to do with who we are - but everything to do with whose we are. We are His and He is ours. You see – Jesus is everything. He is the goodness that resides within us. He is the grace that allows us to love one another. He is the strength that binds us. He is the love that surrounds us. He is everything!
Earlier this year I found myself in despair – hurting and confused and crying out to God. I had questions. I asked, Who are you? He replied, Everything. What do have for me? He said, Everything. What do you want from me? Again, He answered, Everything. All of my blog posts since mid-March have revolved around EVERYTHING. (If you can relate, start in March and read what God is showing me about… well… everything.)
Jesus is everything!
He is everything and He has more for us – more to become, more to do, more to learn. There will be more hard days – but regardless we have Everything to carry us through. If today you feel lost, or burdened or longing for more, cry out and ask Him those same 3 questions. He is everything you have ever wanted and everything you will ever need. He has everything for you – all He has is yours. And He wants you to give Him everything – your life, your family, your dreams – everything. When we do – He will do exceeding abundantly above all we ask, think or even dare to imagine.
“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21
