You Matter

You Matter!

Someone needs to hear that right now. You matter! Why do we forget this? Well, because there are those in this fallen world who act as if we don’t. And there are those we encounter who show us they believe that they matter much more than we do. And because we have an adversary whose only desire is to “steal, kill and destroy” anything that would cause us to believe the truth and fulfill our purpose.

But… there is the evidence, this great truth, that cannot be avoided. I mean we cannot possibly believe that God did what He did for everyone except us. There is no disclaimer or exception listed in God’s word. So, when John 3:16 tells us that “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – that includes you. God loved YOU so much that He sent His Son for YOU.

And… you must have worth and value, right? I mean Jesus gave His life for yours. That is proof that YOU have worth and value and that God sees it. He sees you and He loves you a lot. The best part is – perfection is not required. Can I get a hallelujah? Nothing you have done, nothing that has happened to you, nothing you have said has diminished your worth and your value. You are fully known and you are fully loved.

It just gets better! Not only do you matter, not only do you have worth and value, but God wants to have an intimate relationship with you. That doesn’t mean that you need to become a Biblical scholar or live a perfect life. He is inviting you into a relationship and all that is required of you is to say yes. “Yes, Lord, I want to see You, I want to hear You, I want to know You.” He already knows us, but He is waiting for us to get to know Him.

Is that something you want? Is it something you desire?

Would you like to know that you matter and show God that He and a relationship with Him matters to you? I am not talking about salvation here, although nothing is more important that that. I lived many years knowing that Jesus was my Savior without having a real relationship with Him. I thought that when we sang about walking with Him and talking with Him that those words were metaphorical. I didn’t understand that I really could experience Him and grow to know Him more and more.

Maybe that sounds weird. I would have thought so, too. But it isn’t weird at all, it is wonderful and intimacy with the Lord is yours if you want it. I mean, look at Paul. He was a rough character, but God got Paul’s attention and he surrendered his life to God. He didn’t stop there, he spent the rest of his life growing to know God more and more and longing to know Him even more – recognizing that nothing else mattered.

Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.
