What Does God Want Me to Do

What Does God Want Me to Do?

Do you ever wonder, what does God want me to do? Do you wish He would just drop you a note down from heaven with detailed instructions or a 5-year plan? Do you long to please Him – but you simply are not sure that you do?

Let’s just sit and talk about it for a few minutes.

We know that the Bible tells us that God loved us so much that He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16). That confirms that God wants us to accept Jesus as our Savior so that we can have a relationship with Him. Have you done that? You see, none of us could ever be good enough to enter into God’s presence. We are all lost and doomed to hell – no matter how good we try to be. We need help. We need saving. It is the blood of Jesus that covers our sin and allows us to enter His presence. The Bible tells us that once we put our faith in Christ’s death and His resurrection, we can fulfill our purpose of knowing God and glorifying Him. (Romans 6:1-6)

We know this right? We know that our salvation is the starting point of God transforming us so that we can become more like Jesus. We have been saved by His amazing grace, but still we ponder, Now What? Now, what does God want me to do? Have we forgotten? The answer is in His word. But we live so distracted, we have become so complacent, that we give His instruction little consideration. What if today we decided to adhere to these great truths?

7 Things God Wants You to Do

  1. Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18) Our relationship with Him should affect every aspect of our life… every single aspect of our life. We should no longer look and act like everyone else. We need to be transforming, becoming set apart by Him. How?

    • Girl, read your Bible. Make time to get into God’s word.

    • Seek godly counsel. Find yourself a Bible study buddy, a mentor and a coach.

    • Live in the power of the Holy Spirit. (Galatians 5:16)

  2.  “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33) We are to desire God’s righteous rule in our life. This begins by seeking Him first – His way before my way; exalting Him above me; and living to please Him and not this world. A.W. Tozer says, “As God is exlated to the right place in our lives, a thousand problems are solved all at once.”

  3. And what does the Lord require of you but to act justly…” (Micah 6:8) What does this even mean? As believers, we should have a sense of right and wrong, being honest and fair. We should not judge by appearance, “but with right judgment” (John 7:24) What does God want us to do? He wants us to live truthfully – to love Him and love others, treating them fairly. (Matthew 7:12)

  4.  “And what does the Lord require of you but to act justly, to love mercy…” (Micah 6:8). We are to follow the example Jesus set for us. He was eager to show mercy. Remember the adulteress caught in the act and dragged to face Jesus? Remember the criminal hanging on a cross next to Him? He didn’t condemn them; instead, He showed mercy. We should do the same – show mercy to others and rejoice when someone is shown mercy - remembering how much mercy God has shown to us.

  5. And what does the Lord require of you but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8). Humility requires surrender. Over and over and over again, we should seek less of me and more of Him. Jesus is everything and our life should stop being about us and more about Him. He isn’t just a part of our life, He is our life and as believers we get to walk with Him – hand in hand. He holds us by His right hand. We daily deny ourselves, take up our cross and walk with Him. (Luke 9:23) So let’s become children who confess our sins, live free from idolatry, worldliness and compromise and walk humbly with God.

  6.  “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19-20) Are you sharing what you know with others? Are you talking about who God is and what He has done or are you just chatting about you? (Ouch!) The Great Commandment doesn’t say IF you want to. It simply says, Go! Go into your child’s room and talk about Jesus. Go into the coffee shop and ask how you can pray for someone. Go share Jesus with your family, your community, your country and your world. Go! Why? Because not only does God want you to, He commanded you to.

  7. Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20) This is discipleship. You are called to be a disciple. How do you teach others what God has commanded? Well, first you start learning what He has commanded. You can read the Bible over and over and over again and continue to grow and gain understanding. Decide that you will do what God wants you to do and disciple others. Don’t know what to say? Share this post. Print it out and talk to someone about it. Look up the scriptures together and gain understanding together. It is as simple as that.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” We can do these 7 things because God is with us. He is with you right now. Why don’t you shut down for a few minutes and talk to Him about these things? He is waiting.

I love you, friend!
