Beautiful Word Bible and Bible Journal Reviews
I am excited to share with you a little bit about some beautiful resources to encourage you and your daughters and/or granddaughters in Bible Study.
Bible journaling has been popular for several years now. The idea of writing in your Bible is no longer taboo; instead creating beautiful works of art in the margin of your Bible is actually encouraged. Therefore, we now have many options when it comes to journal Bibles and also Bible journals. And the great news is – there is help for those of us who enjoy being creative but are not professional artists.
I recently received a copy of the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls and the NIV Beautiful Word Bible Journal, Gospel of Mark - both by Zondervan. As a member of the Bible Gateway Blogger Grid, I received these books for free in order to provide an honest review. I hope you will find my thoughts helpful as you consider if these books might be something you or a special girl in your life would enjoy.
NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls Gift Set.
This is a beautiful collection. From the second I pulled this gift set out of the box it was shipped in, I found the presentation fresh and inviting. The gift set includes a beautiful teal leathersoft NIV Bible with blue and white flowers on the cover. The design is simple and appropriate for any age. Also included in the kit are stickers and 4 colored pencils, enticing you to dig right into the word.
The Bible includes over 600 verses illustrated in ready-to-color art. This gives your girl a place to start on her journaling journey. Often, it is the act of beginning that holds us back. She can choose from short verses in the margins or full-page scriptures. Each one giving her ideas for when she is ready to create her own original design. The icing on the cake is that as she colors and draws she is reading and meditating on God’s word. Priceless.
As a MeMe of 7 granddaughters, I would definitely recommend this NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls gift set. The design and the inclusion of the stickers and pencils makes this a fun gift. But… I have to tell you… I am keeping this copy for me. I love everything about this Bible and am looking forward to completing the included illustrations as well as making a few of my own.

NIV Beautiful Word Bible Journal, Gospel of Mark
I love this journal idea. This is a small journal that you can drop in your purse or stick in your Bible. This journal includes the entire text of the book of Mark and allows space for you to create art and make notes.
The publishers included some full color illustrated verses, which seem out of place in this journal. Of course, the scriptures belong, but the color theme and presentation are not as feminine or mature as the cover design. I would have preferred the illustrated verses in this journal to be ready to color like the illustrations in the Bible above. This would allow for meditation on the scripture and offer an example of how to create your own illustrations.
The addition of some commentary or thought provoking questions in the journal would be helpful as well. Without it, I am drawn back to my study Bible therefore no longer utilizing the text in the journal. As stated at the start, I love the idea of this journal and would love to see a few tweaks made to make it a great resource for Bible study.

It is my hope that these two reviews are helpful to you. Regardless of which translation you choose and added elements you enjoy, consistently reading God’s word is life changing. There is nothing better than getting to know Him more and more through the study of God’s written word and spending time with the Living Word – His Son, Jesus.
