Walk Step by Step in Faith

Walking Step by Step in Faith

This week, I am a tagalong. I tagged along with my son’s family to the beach for a few days. It was an amazing time of fun, fellowship, hysterical laughter, lots of sand and rest.

You see, for our trip – they picked the dates we would go, the place we would stay and the things we would do. Oh, they asked for my input, but ultimately, I was happy to just be with them. I didn’t feel any need to try to take control or be the one to make the decisions. I was content to enjoy the time spent with each one of them and to appreciate all the moments – big and small. I tagged along.

Hmm… that has me thinking about my relationship with God.

Are we busy trying to take charge and telling God where we want to go and what we want to do? Or are we doubting the course He has for us and questioning every step? Are we micromanaging the details and seeking our own way?

Or… are we His tagalong – happy to just be with Him; willing to go wherever He leads, ready to say “yes” to whatever He asks us to do?

Are you a tagalong?

I love watching my grands move their tiny feet as they do their best to keep up with their Daddy. He isn’t moving too fast, he is just big and they are small. But they want to be with him, they want to be going where he is going, so they do what is necessary to stay right beside him. They tagalong with him.

Is that us? Are we doing what we need to do to stay right beside our heavenly Father? Are we longing to spend our time with Him, stay on the path He has for us and become who He designed us to be?

He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8

He is leading us into a deep relationship with Him – not asking us to practice religion where we go through the motions doing what we believe is expected of us. He wants us to know Him – be still and know that He is God. He wants us to submit our life to Him putting His desires for us above what others want or expect us to do. He wants us to walk and talk with Him. When we do – it. changes. everything.

Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:25

Let’s tagalong and walk step by step by faith in God’s word and under the Spirit’s control. Let’s submit our life to His authority – His plans for our life. It’s much simpler than we make it – we just need to follow the Spirit’s lead.

Let’s tagalong. He is big and we are small. We can trust where He is leading; all we need to do is keep up.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9
