Look What You've Done

Look What You’ve Done

It’s September!!! Happy Fall, y’all! I have so much to tell you… so much I want to talk about. But first, I am shouting, “look what you’ve done!”.

The world shames us and shouts, “look what you’ve done”. We carry guilt and shame and pain from our past and allow it to impact our future far more than it should. Then there are times when the world glorifies us and proclaims, “look what you’ve done!” as if we deserve accolades and applause. We fall prey to the back and forth and toggle from shame to pride to shame to pride. What are we doing?

The truth is found in God’s word and if we believe things that contradict the scriptures, then we are buying into a lie. We might even begin to lie to ourselves and about ourselves. We feel we need to lie about what we are ashamed of to try to conceal it and we might even lie about our accomplishments to gain favor in the eyes of others.

But, what if instead we shifted our mindset and shouted, “Look what You’ve done!” (Notice You’ve is capitalized. 😉)

What if we focused on His goodness and not on our life circumstances?

What if we took some time today and listed all that God has done in us and through us?

What if we found our identity in who Jesus is and what He has done.

The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad. Psalm 126:3

Today is a good day to decide to live for Him.

Maybe we should begin by listening to what we say. Are we talking about “me” or are we talking about “He” and what He is doing in our lives?

We should give some thought to our thoughts. Are we taking every thought captive and making sure they line up with the truth of God’s word?

We can stop believing that we can’t help but feel the way we do, think the way we think, and do things we know we shouldn’t do. Instead, we can exhibit self-control which is a fruit of the Spirit talked about in Galatians 5. The fruit of the Spirit is the change in our character that comes about because of the Holy Spirit’s work in us. With every thought, every action, every decision – we are either following our flesh or following the Spirit. (Read that last sentence again.)

Today, let’s shout, “Look what You’ve Done!” and rejoice in evidence of God’s goodness that we can see all over our lives. He is good. He is faithful! He is worthy to be praised.
