10 Steps to Embracing a New Start

Are you ready for a fresh start? Are you ready to release some things you have been carrying? Are you ready to experience a new start and step into the purposes of God?

I am! I am!

For anything new to begin, something old has to end. Let’s hold hands and do this together…

1.     Decide. Decide that you are done buying into the ways of the world. The world will lead you astray and distract you from pursuing intimacy with God.

2.     Believe. Believe that you are new in Christ, even today. (Because of what Jesus has done, you can dust off your shoes and step forward into this newness He came to offer you. You don’t have to stay stuck in the dirt of this world. Step forward.)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

3.     Commit. Commit to get into the word, read and seek to know who God is. You are not your past. You will grow in your true identity in Christ as you learn more about His character.

Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all. Colossians 3:9-11

4.     Release. Let go of “former things” – shame, regret, old ways, past hurt, false beliefs, doubt, despair – release them – no more holding on to those. Don’t look back. Let go and press on.

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.  Isaiah 43:18-19

5.     Focus. Set your eyes on your glorious future with Christ. He will empower you to endure every kind of trouble. Don’t be distracted by it or even devastated. He will renew you day by day.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

6.     Suit up. What are you wearing today? You can strip off the dirty clothes of self-centeredness and put on the snowy white robes of Christ’s righteousness.

That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24

7.     Embrace Grace. Every day presents us with a new opportunity to discover and experience more of God’s love, and grace upon grace.

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, therefore I hope in Him!” Lamentations 3:22-24

8.     Step into Your Purpose. As a believer, you are now a member of God’s household. You are being built together with other believers – with Christ as your cornerstone. Step into who He is calling you to become.

Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. Ephesians 2:19-22

9.     Trust. You can trust that God will do what He has said and someday He will dwell among His people. This will pass away and you will experience a new heaven and a new earth.

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. Revelations 21:1-3

10.  Know. Know that it is God who is making all things new – even you. Be still and know that He is God, surrender all of your ways to Him and walk in newness of life.

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” Revelations 21:5

This is a lot to think about. For something new to begin, something old has to end. What do you need to stop, so you can start walking in newness with Him?

Hi friend!

Thank you for reading this today. It means the world to me.

I believe we were created to be in relationship with one another and to encourage each other on our journey to intimacy to Jesus. You see, I lived many many years as a believer who lived for myself, not for my Savior. God got my attention and I am so thankful that I now know Jesus in a way I never knew was possible. And… I know there is still so much more. So, let’s invite our friends to join us. You can help me share just by Liking, commenting on and sharing this post. It makes a difference when you do.
