What's Next for Me

What’s Next for Me?

Do you ever ask yourself that question, What’s next for me? I certainly do. Matter of fact, this question and searching for the answer has been consuming most of 2021 for me. When Premier Designs / DVTD closed at the end of 2020, my heart broke. I had spent 23 years of my life building a business that I thought would last long past me. Oh, I had experienced some hard seasons, as all leaders do. I had even entertained the idea of leaving at one point, but just couldn’t because this business had blessed me beyond measure.

Let me rephrase that last sentence. God had used this business and the people in it to bless me and my family. I had a great career that allowed me the flexibility to be available to my children. It brought amazing mentors into my life who taught me so much about leadership and about walking the Christian walk. It had made me rich in relationships! I had friends all over the country who loved me and did life alongside me. And the cherry on the top was that it was built on Biblical principles and supported ministries all around the world. I loved that and I had grown comfortable.

Can you relate? Do you get comfortable and resist allowing God to lead you outside your comfort zone? Do you wonder what God has next for you, but then shut it down when what He is revealing to you is more than a little bit scary? Have you decided that you are this way or that way and argue with God when He presents an opportunity to grow you? Well, if that is you then you sound a lot like David, Moses and Peter. Maybe you should rethink that “No.” ;-)

I hadn’t always been comfortable. When I started, I was like a fish out of water flailing about. I was terrified to talk in front of people. I had no idea the potential I had or that this business offered my family. And… I had a lot to learn about business, about people and about leadership. I made a lot of mistakes. Mistakes are great teachers. God uses them to grow us and to change us. He brings people into our lives who show us who we do not want to be and those who inspire us to be better. There is a vast difference in the girl I was when I started my business and the woman I am today. I think that was God’s plan all along.

Take some time and think about the ways that God has grown you. What do you think He is doing? How does this new growth coincide with the plans He has for you? Do you talk to Him about it? Pull up a chair and talk with Him as if He is sitting right beside you. Open your Bible and ask Him to begin revealing your next steps to you.

Through a series of revelations (I could tell you some amazing stories), what is next for me has been made clear. Again, I feel like a fish out of water, flailing about. I am aware that I have so much to learn. I know mistakes will be made and God will use them to stretch me and grow me. And I know that whatever His plan is for this next season, it is good and I will trust Him with it. He has even gifted me with 2 partners that I get to travel this journey alongside. I cannot wait for you to meet them.

Kim Ball, Gwen Neal and I are launching, Engage for More. Nothing would make us happier than for you to join our community! We want to all link arms and engage Jesus in every area of our life so that we can experience the more that He came to offer us. You see, we all struggle. We all lose sight of Jesus and His plan for our life. We need accountability and we need community. We need someone to remind us to look up, to rest on God’s promises and to engage Jesus in every part of our life. We are better together.
