His PRESENCE, Provision & Promises - Part 1

His Presence.png

Recently, I was chatting with a group of friends about our inheritance as daughters of the King. As God’s adopted, we have an amazing inheritance. We have been granted access to His presence, we have been assured of His provision, and we can rest on His promises.

We know this to be true. We believe it. So, why are we not partaking of these amazing gifts we have been given?

Today, let’s take a look at ways we can experience God’s presence…

Because we are His, we have been given the right to enter into His PRESENCE. God made a way for us to be reconciled to Him. He sent His Son to be the sacrificial Lamb, to be the atonement for our sins. When we repent of our sins, turn from our old ways and accept Jesus as our Savior, His blood covers us and we are given access to our Creator.

The Creator of the Universe is offering us the privilege of fellowship with Him. He is our Abba Father and has made His home with us. Jesus said, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him; and We will come to him and make Our home with him." (John 14:23) Psalm 16:11 says "You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

If, or when, we struggle to feel God’s presence or wonder where He is, what are we to do?

1.     Worship. We were created to worship God. As we worship – either through song or declaration – we recognize, honor and express the worthiness of God. It reminds us of who He is. We exalt Him to His proper place in our life – first. It brings everything in our life back into the proper perspective. We humble ourselves to the authority of our Lord.

2.     Repent. We all sin. Even though we love the Lord and want to live for Him every day of our life, we sin. Repentance is an important part of our Christian walk. Through the power of the Holy Spirit alive in us, we should recognize our sin and mourn its existence. When we fail to repent – express our sorrow over our sin and turn from it – then the sin actually creates distance. When we repent, the path is cleared back to God’s presence.

3.     Feed on God’s word. We love food, don’t we? We love to eat. Well, the Bible teaches us that just like we need food to sustain our life, we need to feast on God’s word to sustain our Christian walk. Our spiritual food is every word that comes from the mouth of God. When we read and study God’s word, listen to biblical preaching and teaching, and fellowship with believers who hold us accountable, our intimacy with Him grows.

4.     Pray. As we talk with God, we have the privilege of inviting Him to come and be with us. I was 40 before I knew that I could do this. Try it. Worship, repent, recall the truth of His word as you open your hands and invite Him to come and spend time with you. Talk to Him as if He is sitting in the chair next to you. Although we may not hear Him audibly, we can sense His spirit, feel the heaviness of His being, and become engulfed in the joy that only He can provide.

If you are reading this and like me, you have struggled to feel God’s presence – I encourage you to start reading the Psalms. David teaches us how to relate to God. He cries out, he pleads, he exhorts God, he is in turmoil, he worships, etc. No matter what your current state may be – you can find a Psalm where David is in that same state.

I am praying for your friend. I am so thankful you are here. Together, let’s keep pursuing intimacy with our King. Let’s keep moving closer and closer to Him and tell others about Him. Eternity will be here before we know it.

Come back next week as we chat about His provision.
