Want More? Seek Him First.

Last week we dove into the subject of more. The word more is and has been a constant part of my vocabulary and thought life ever since God began to whisper it to me a dozen or so years ago. If was frustrating to say the least. I was busy, overwhelmed, and a self-proclaimed workaholic. Why was God pressing this word into my thoughts, making it weigh heavy on my mind, and driving me nuts? I didn’t have time for more.

Do you ever feel that way?

Do you want more, but can’t even think about more today?

Is the more you want, the same more God wants for you?

Before we go down the rabbit trail of how busy we are and all that is going on in our life. Shh! Let’s quieten those distracting thoughts and instead ponder this one…

Do I want what God wants for me?

Do we? Do we want what God has for us? Do we want the more Jesus came to offer us?

I do. Don’t you?

If we do, we must engage Jesus if we are to experience the more. There is more in addition to our salvation. I mean that is amazing and I pray that you are sure of your salvation. But… what about transformation that takes place as we engage Him in every area of our life? We are to experience this continual transformation until we step into Heaven. Jesus has more for us - now, today. He is inviting us into more with Him and our first step is..

1.     Seek Him first.

Boom! Mic drop! Nuff said!

We should be able to read Matthew 6:33 and know that we are to seek God first. He is to be our first love. His plan, His will, His ways should matter most to us. Jesus is speaking in verses 25-34 and clearly tells us to stop worrying about getting everything we think we need, after all God clothes the flowers. Instead, lets shift our focus to what God is giving to us.

He says that people who don’t know God, worry about what they are going to eat, drink and wear. But not us. We are believers. We are daughters of the King, therefore, we know He will care for us. So, our focus should be on God’s purpose for our life. His hand is extended as He beckons us into more.

As God whispered more to me, I began to understand He wasn’t asking me to add more to my To Do List. He was asking me to surrender more of me to more of Him, He was revealing that He had more for me and He was inviting me into more with Him. As I said yes, I began to experience more of His presence, find more rest in His promises and trust Him more. More than anything, I want the more He has for me.

What has He given to you? Are you a good steward of your blessings? Are you using your gifts and talents for His glory? Are you loving Him and loving people?

It all begins… and it continues… when we simply seek Him first.

AW Tozer said, “As God is exalted to the right place in our lives, a thousand problems are solved all at once.”

But first… Jesus.

Make time to get into the written Word.

Spend time with the Living Word.

Stop striving and start surrendering – bit by bit – until you can truly declare, I surrender all.

God has more for you, when you seek Him first.

(This is step 1 of 4. Be sure to read last weeks post, What is the more God wants for You?, and check back for the next 3 steps. Let’s all say YES to the more God has for us! Being smack dab in the center of His will is the BEST place to be!)

 Note from Pam:

Thank you for reading this blog post. I remember when God began to whisper the word, MORE, to me. I didn’t hear it audibly but it was a constant in my mind. I argued because I was busy and could not do more than I was doing. Then He began to reveal that He was not asking me to add more to my to do list, He was inviting me into more with Him. Today I am praying that you say Yes and step into more with Him.
